Gifts for Foodies, Part I

This Wally LSD Bowl remains one of my favorite pieces of pottery, which is saying alot considering my household collection. My years working with clay have rewarded my kitchen cupboards, which are crammed full of personal gems from potters near and far. This Wally LSD Bowl however, outshines them all when it comes to partys and potlucks.

Now it is time to tell you... there was LSD in the dip.Judah and I first encountered this line of pottery in a local store in Eugene when shopping for a wedding present. We got distracted from the task at hand and bought ourselves the lsd bowl instead. The woman selling it to us was quite pleased with our purchase. She even wiggled her eyebrows at us when taking it to the cash register, “I can even give you a good source for some dip if you are interested?” she purred. Ahh Eugene. It isn’t as much of a surprise given that this is the land of the Kesey family. Heck, the Greatful Dead use to call Eugene home away from home.

For the intended wedding present, we ended up buying a large serving bowl ala Wally Ware, that featured Wally the Dog humping a watermelon. Judah and I thought this was a rather clever and suave gift, given that the bride was 8 months pregnant at the time of the wedding. I think that was just a bit too much insight into our sense of humor?

I knew there was some hidden reason why I liked you so much Ms. McAuliflower ? I think we might share a brain from time to time. Love you sense of humour!

  • Speaking of sense of humor- thanks for knowing I would like the Cookie Sutra! Everyone is getting one of these for Christmas!

i don’t care about the LSD in the dip, it’s the human breast milk i’m worried about, you eugenians, you?.

  • Heh! The artist who sells the Wally Bowls has a fun contest:

Do you have an interesting unintended acid trip tale? Tell it to us in an email and once a year, on Timothy Leary’s birthday (10/22), we will pick one lucky winner who will receive a free LSD bowl!

Well October is right around the corner!
If anyone has an interesting unintended or intended breastmilk tale, I will let you share it for all to hear! ;)

Never did see a follow up to the breastmilk ad. Maybe I should go check out the local health food stores more closely?

    ? McAuliflower
